Pre-Registration of Chemicals According to REACH Regulation Completed

Deliveries to EC are directly depending on product registration according to REACH Regulation. Anatoliy Uchaev, deputy head of working group on pre-registration, has pointed out ‘if we had stopped the procedure or violated pre-registration deadline, the EC market would have already been closed for our products in January. Considering forecasts for 2008 the share of deliveries to EC countries will be about 40% of total sales volume for non-CIS countries, we can conclude that one more barrier, hindering from presence at the EC market, is surmounted’.

Completion of pre-registration in ECHA (European Chemicals Agency) means that producers can supply their products in EC countries up to the moment of registration, i.e. December 1, 2010. Up to this date Dneprospetsstal is planning to complete registration of such chemical elements as Nickel, Iron, Manganese, Chromium, Cobalt and Phosphorus that are present in supplied products.

Information

European parliament adopted REACH Regulation in 2006. REACH is abbreviation of ″Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals″. Within REACH the European legislators consider commodity as a set of chemicals, and manufacturing process as a sequence of actions aimed at creation of required set of substances having the form required for a consumer. Implementation of REACH Regulation means that all chemicals coming in the European market as commodities shall be registered. First of all, this is to find out how safety they are for human and environment.
